Top management
PAS 55-1:2008, Asset Management: Part 1: Specification for the optimized management of physical assets, written by the Institute of Asset Management, and published by BSi in September 2008, defines top management as an: ‘appointed and authorized person, or a group of people, who direct and control an organization at the highest level NOTE 1 The top management (e.g. in a large organization, the board or executive committee) are not necessarily the owners of the organization they direct and control. NOTE 2 The top management may delegate some of their duties to one or more subordinate management representative(s) while still retaining accountability.’
